Left is Right
I eat approximately 97% of my meals alone each week. As a result, I have a tendency to eat way too fast. To slow myself down, I eat with my non-dominant hand from time-to-time.
Eating with the wrong hand is awkward (and a little messy especially with utensils), but it slows me down, it reminds me to taste my food, and it keeps me from over-eating.
So next time you are about to shovel down your food. Stop. Switch hands and see what's left on your plate.
